Family, business, and political correspondence of Settle, Rockingham County, N.C., lawyer, legislator, and judge, including correspondence with his son-in-law, Gov. David Settle Reid (1813-1891) and others prominent in public affairs in North Carolina; bills, receipts, and deeds. Topics are primarily family news but include some discussion of North Carolina politics, especially concerning Reid's re-election.
